New moon discovery - 5th August 2024
Humans went to the moon in 1969. But it's a dangerous place to live. Now, scientists have a solution. They found a cave on the moon. People can live in the cave tunnels.
A NASA satellite found the cave entrance in 2010. This year, scientists studied this data. They used computers to identify the cave tunnels.
The cave is in the Sea of Tranquility. The cave entrance is 100 metres wide. The cave tunnels are up to 170 metres long. It's a safe place for humans.
Temperatures on the moon change a lot. It's 121 degrees celsius in the sunlight. But in the dark, it's minus 133 degrees celsius. Lots of small asteroids hit the moon too.
Houses on the moon are important. It's easier to go to other planets from the moon. Lots of countries and companies are going into space. There may be a new space race for caves on the moon.
