Children win fight for clean air - 4th September 2023
Climate change is a big problem everywhere. But 16 young people from Montana, USA, did something special. They just won a fight about climate change, against the state.
The group of 16 people were 5-22 years old. They felt angry. They went to court. They said that climate change made their lives bad. In court, the judge agreed with them!
The past 20 years were difficult for Montana. There were months without water. There were fires too. Sometimes, young people couldn't play sport outside. There was too much smoke.
Montana law says everyone should have clean air. And that's why these 16 young people went to court.
Coal is still a large industry in Montana. It has more coal than any other US state. But it's bad for the climate.
This might be the beginning of something big. In other US states and in other countries too, the same thing's happening.
