More Covid symptoms - 9th May 2022
The UK now has a list of new Covid symptoms. Symptoms are signs of an illness. The list has nine symptoms. But the list isn't new. The World Health Organisation and many countries already listed these symptoms.
In the past, the UK's list had three symptoms. One was a high temperature. Another was a cough. People couldn't smell or taste things too.
Now, there are nine extra symptoms. Problems breathing, feeling tired and body pain are on the list. It now lists a headache, sore throat and blocked nose too. The other new symptoms are diarrhoea, feeling sick and not wanting to eat.
In March, lots of people caught Covid in the UK. 4.9 million people tested positive. But the government stopped free Covid tests.
The National Health Service gave a warning. People with Covid symptoms and a fever should stay at home.
Professor Tim Spector is happy. He studies Covid. He wanted the government to make a new list. He asked for a new list two years ago.
