Help for electric cars - 20th December 2021
There will be a new rule for electric cars in England. All new houses will have special electricity charging points for electric cars.
All new supermarkets, offices and factories must have them too. There will be 145,000 new charging points every year.
Like other countries, the UK is changing to electric cars. Britain only has 25,000 charging points. It needs lots more. From 2030, all new cars have to be electric.
Electric cars will slow down global warming because they don't use petrol. 16 percent of the UK's greenhouse gases in 2019 came from cars.
People in the UK are buying more electric cars. In 2018, only 2.5 percent of new cars were electric. In 2020, 10 percent were electric.
Now it will be easy to charge electric cars. Friends of the Earth is happy about this. It wants more people to have electric cars.
