There was an accident near Mauritius. An oil ship broke apart. Now, there is oil in the sea.
Mauritius is an island in the Indian Ocean. It is famous for its beaches. Lots of special animals and plants live there. People visit Mauritius to see them. Scientists are worried. The oil might kill the plants and animals.,
The ship is called MV Wakashio. Japanese company Nagashiki Shipping owns it. It crashed in July. 4,000 tonnes of oil went into the sea. Now, people are working hard. They want to take the oil out of the water.
Oil accidents are dangerous for the environment. Oil hurts animals and plants for years. Oil accidents are difficult to clean up. They usually only get back a little oil.
The Mauritian prime minister asked for help. Lots of people went to the area. They saved special animals and plants.
Now, Mauritius wants money for the accident. Nagashiki Shipping says they will pay. But they didn't say how much money.
