Venezuela earthquake disaster - 6th July 2026

There were two huge earthquakes in Venezuela. Both earthquakes were in northern Venezuela. The first earthquake was big. It had a magnitude of 7.2.

The second earthquake was worse. It had a magnitude of 7.5. It's Venezuela's biggest earthquake for over 100 years.

People need help fast after earthquakes. The first three days are important.

But Venezuela's government didn't help people quickly. Many areas got no help or equipment.

Satellite pictures show a lot of damage. 58,870 buildings fell down. Neighbours are looking for people under the buildings. They're moving the broken walls by hand.

Thousands of people are homeless. More than 2,600 people are dead. The final total may be over 10,000.

Other countries sent 3,681 rescue workers to Venezuela. They sent 1,086 tonnes of emergency aid too. The USA's giving $300 million to help.

Venezuela has lots of political problems. It doesn't have good systems or equipment. The USA's pressuring its government. This disaster adds more pressure.
