A new danger for a historic wall - 27th April 2026

Hadrian's Wall is in danger. The Roman wall has a problem with dog walkers. They're putting poo bags in between the stones.

The bags don't just look bad. Scientists are worried. There are chemicals and micro-plastics in the bags. They're bad for the stones.

Hadrian's Wall is 117.5 kilometres long. It was built in 122 CE. It goes across northern England from east to west.

The Romans used Hadrian's Wall for three centuries. It kept other people out of Roman Britain. Now, it's on the United Nations' list of important buildings.

Over 750,000 people visit Hadrian's Wall every year. But some visitors are putting their dog's poo in the wall.

Some dog walkers want more bins along the path. But the national park doesn't want to put them on the historic site.

Other dog walkers are shocked. They think these people are "simply lazy".
