Formula 1 driver breaks records - 16th March 2026

18-year-old Arvid Lindblad made history at the Australian Grand Prix. He's Britain's youngest Formula 1 driver.

Lindblad isn't just younger. He's from a different background too. His father's Swedish. And his mother's family is from India.

He's the first British F1 driver from an Indian family. Lindblad's happy about this. He wants drivers from more countries in Formula 1.

Lindblad started go-karting at the age of 5. At 15 years old, he drove in the Italian Formula 4 Championship.

The next year, he became the youngest winner of a Formula 3 race. And he's the youngest person to win in Formula 2.

This year, F1 cars are different too. They have new engines. Their wheels are smaller. And they're environmentally friendly.

His first race went well. He started in 9th position. He finished in 8th place. This made him the third-youngest driver to win points in a grand prix.
