The world says no to racism - 10th June 2020

From the USA to London to Seoul, this week has seen Black Lives Matter protests across the globe.

The protests were sparked by the death in Minneapolis in the USA of George Floyd, who was in police custody at the time of his death. The officer responsible has since been arrested and charged with Mr Floyd’s murder.

In Trafalgar Square in London, people knelt in silence as a mark of respect and protest.

In the USA, demonstrations have been widespread. In the capital city Washington, protesters marched before also kneeling down. It was an event which brought together friends and families united in protest.

Cierra Owens: Because, one day, I will be having black little girls and black little boys as kids and I want them to come up in a world that doesn’t hate them. I want them to fight for other things and not just to be, have human rights. This is not something that’s just a race thing. This is a human rights thing. This is not something that we, we should still be doing in 2020.
