Green energy of the future - 19th June 2020

Scientists have a new discovery. They made energy from plants.

The plants made the gas hydrogen. This was the first part of the research. It means plants could make electricity.

The scientists work at Tel Aviv University in Israel. The experiments used algae. These are tiny plants. This could be a new way to use plants.

Now, we grow plants for food. In the future, we could use them for energy and chemicals.

But, new technology takes time. We may not see the results for 20 years.
