Covid numbers rise in India - 28th April 2021

Covid-19 is a big problem in India. Many people are dying. 350,000 people are getting Covid every day. 2,800 people died in one day.

Hospitals are full. They cannot take new patients. The hospitals don't have medicine. The patients need oxygen. The oxygen helps them to breathe. Trains are taking oxygen to Indian cities. The government is flying oxygen to some cities too.

Lots of people have Covid in India. One problem is a new type of Covid. There are problems from big events too. India has many festivals. There were two festivals in March and April. Thousands of people went. People got Covid at the festivals.

India is fighting Covid with vaccines. These are special medicines. It started giving vaccines in January. One hundred million people got the vaccine. But India has 1.4 billion people. They need a lot of vaccines.

Many countries are now helping India. They are sending oxygen and medicines to India.
