Life on another planet - 12th May 2025
Scientists think there may be life on another planet. The planet's name is K2-18b. It's very far from Earth.
The scientists were from Cambridge University. They used the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). This machine's very strong. K2-18b is 7,000 trillion miles away.
The telescope found some molecules there. On Earth, these molecules are in simple organisms. One scientist, Nikku Madhusudhan, said, "there is possibly life out there". It's the second time the JWST found chemicals near the planet.
The scientists believe the planet's different from Earth. There is a lot of gas around K2-18b. This means there could be lots of life.
But the team doesn't know for sure. One scientist Dr Nicolas Wogan, from NASA, thinks K2-18b's made of gas.
It would take 190,000 years to travel to K2-18b. For now, the JWST gives us the best information about the planet.
