Singer Dolly Parton dies - 7th September 2026

Dolly Parton was a singer. She died at 80 years old. She was 'the Queen of Country Music'.

Her family was poor. They had no money.

Dolly wrote her first song at 6 years old. From 10 years old, she sang on TV.

Dolly wrote her first album. Its name was 'Hello, I'm Dolly'. After that, she was rich and famous.

Dolly helped children. She gave them lots of books.

The books help with reading. That's important, says Aynsley Broom.

Aynsley Broom: "She really, you know, championed a lot of people to read and was incredible in like, allow - making sure that every child had a book to read. And that's something that I think is very important. As someone who really loves our local libraries, she was supportive of that and her Imagination Library is something that is truly incredible."
