Snow in Madrid - 15th January 2021

This is Madrid, in Spain. There is a lot of snow. This is unusual for Madrid. It doesn't often snow here.

The snow started on Friday. There were problems in Madrid. Madrid airport couldn't open. Trains couldn't travel. The government closed lots of roads.

Pedro Sanchez is the Spanish Prime Minister. He wanted everyone to stay at home. But some people went out. They wanted to see the snow.

Covadonga Solares: "I live nearby and we decided to come here because we thought we had to see this. It's great! We're so excited and there's also such a good atmosphere. You see people having fun and I really - maybe I'm a bit too sensitive, I think it's moving, the mood is happy. It's nice, really."

These people were having fun in the snow. They used skis. Some people made snowmen.

It also snowed in other areas of Spain. There were problems there too.

Now, the government is trying to clear the snow.
