Monk makes music - 14th August 2020
Yogetou Akasaka is from Japan. He is a Buddhist monk. He usually helps families when someone dies. The lockdown stopped his work. So, he made new Buddhist music during lockdown.
Akasaka likes beatboxing. He makes music with his mouth. Now, he is mixing beatboxing with Buddhist songs. Lots of people listen to his music on YouTube. He is happy about this.
Akasaka: "I just realised that I can just spread my stuff not only in Japan, but to, like, in the world."
Akasaka wasn't always a Buddhist monk. He started when he was 30 years old. He hopes young people will listen to his music. He hopes they become interested in Buddhism.
Akasaka: "So, maybe if my music attracts younger people, it will be a good opportunity for them to know about the Buddhism."
