Liverpool win league after 30 years - 1st July 2020

Liverpool's three decade wait to be the champions of English football is finally over after emerging victorious in the UK Premier League.

Chaotic scenes of celebration were seen outside the club's famous Anfield Stadium as jubilant fans flouted social-distancing regulations to mark the occasion.

Fan 1: "Oh my God, I can't even say how I feel. Amazing, amazing, amazing."

Fan 2: "Amazing, on top of the world fella."

The triumph followed the defeat of Manchester City, the final team to stand in the way of their title hopes following Liverpool's 4-0 trouncing of Crystal Palace the previous night. City desperately needed a win over Chelsea to keep their dream alive, however, their 2-1 loss to Chelsea supplied Liverpool with a record breaking victory as there are still 7 games of the season left.

As the news broke, Liverpool Manager Jürgen Klopp shared his joy at the victory.

Klopp: "It's massive. It's massive. What we love is when you have a successful football club in your city, it always gives the city a lift. And I think at this time all cities in the world can need a lift, Liverpool as well, and I am really happy about that."
