Robots make moves on fashion scene - 8th June 2026

Humans and humanoids have taken to the catwalk in matching outfits, in a world first fashion show. They were part of Mach 33: Physical AI Fashion show, hosted by tech firm Galaxy Corporation, which held the event at its robot theme park in Seoul.

South Korea's become a world leader in robot production and deploys them on a large scale. It has one of the highest ratios of robots to people in the world, with 1,012 robots per 10,000 workers.

Once only seen in manufacturing and industrial environments, robots are increasingly given roles in social and entertainment spaces. In the process, clothing has taken on more importance, since how robots in these locations look affects people's acceptance of them.

The CEO of Galaxy Corporation, Choi Yong-ho, sees a bright future.

Choi Yong-ho: Galaxy Corporation dreams of a world where robots and humans coexist and live in symbiosis. I believe that someday, humans will copy the fashion worn by robots, and conversely, robots will wear the fashion worn by humans."

Clothing's about more than a sense of style for robot waiters and concierges. If they're wearing uniforms, they appear more capable and make people feel more relaxed.

In addition, humanoids wearing clothes in lab environments could help maintain the cleanliness of both the facility and the robots themselves. Clothing may also reduce rust and corrosion in wet or dusty environments, and shield delicate sensors. The ability to wash clothes offers convenience too.

Galaxy Robot Park blends robots with AI and K-pop culture in a range of interactive attractions. After walking the runway, the robot fashionistas busted out some K-pop dance moves. They also threw a few punches in a boxing match, dressed to impress in the latest satin shorts.

Mach 33, Galaxy's humanoid fashion brand, has been experimenting with textiles and designs. Its robotic wardrobe's due to launch just a few months from now.
