Barcelona concert for plants - B1+

Concert attended by plants - 17th July 2020

After a 3 month long closure the opera house in Barcelona, El Liceo, has reopened. But its first concert had a very different audience to usual shows.

It was made up of 2,292 plants, each with their own seat and ticket.

And of course, the usual rules for the audience applied.

The quartet performed Giacomo Puccini's "Crisantemi" to the delighted applause of leaves.

The event was the idea of Spanish artist Eugenio Ampudia. He wanted to examine the exchange between humans and nature and the impact of lockdown on public spaces.

After the event, the plants were donated to the Clinic de Barcelona. Organisers wanted to thank medical staff for their work during the virus.

The concert is now available to stream online and Ampudia hopes that you'll play it at home for your plants.
