Billie Eilish: Living with Tourette's - B1

Billie's Tourette's syndrome B1 - 20th June 2022

Billie Eilish spoke about living with Tourette's syndrome (TS) in an interview and said it was "very exhausting".

The singer had a tic during the interview. She said, "if you film me for long enough, you're going to see lots of tics."

In the UK, 300,000 people live with TS. Globally, one percent of people do. Tourette's syndrome makes people move or make noises suddenly, which they can't control. Tics are the sudden movements. This usually begins as a child and gets less as they grow older. In some people, it completely disappears.

Billie said when she's singing, she doesn't get tics. She said the tics happen regularly, but some have stopped.

Eilish "really loves" sharing her experience with TS, but she mentioned that she doesn't fully understand it. She said some people laugh at her when she has a tic, which is upsetting.

Terrina Bibb's angry about people's negative reaction too. She'd like people to be more respectful. Terrina's happy that Eilish is sharing her experience. She hopes this will make more people think about TS.
