Dragon boat festival continues - 10th July 2020
The festival Tuen Ng is the popular Dragon Boat Festival. It is an important holiday in South East Asia.
Dragon Boat teams usually visit Hong Kong from many countries. The races are watched by large numbers of spectators.
This year's festival is much smaller because of coronavirus restrictions. Now the virus is under control in the city, a smaller event was possible.
12 teams from local businesses and organisations participated in the one day festival.
Charlotte and Quentin are from one of the teams.
Charlotte: "We need to train keeping the social distancing rules, so we try to really live with that and comply with this, but we are happy to be back, we know that we need to be prudent, so that the races, well we can be back for training and races."
Quentin: "It was amazing, the organisation has done a really good job, they kept all the traditional ceremonies and the atmosphere was really really cool, really nice.
Charlotte: "Yeah you can see everyone's happy to be here."
Where the festival comes from is a mystery. Some believe that the celebration takes away illnesses. Others think it prevents bad luck.
We all hope that's true!
