Joe Biden is the new US president. He won the election on Saturday. He started the day with 253 state votes. He needed 270 to win. Then he won Pennsylvania's 20 votes.
There were parties in the streets in lots of cities. President Elect Biden spoke to the country. He will be a president for all Americans.
Joe Biden: "I'm a proud Democrat. But I will govern as an American president. I'll work as hard for those who didn't vote for me as those who did."
This result makes history. Biden got over 75 million votes. This is the most ever. Kamala Harris is Vice President Elect. She is the first woman to be vice president. She is the first Black woman and first South Asian woman too.
Kamala Harris: "And so, I am thinking about her and about the generations of women, Black women, Asian, White, Latina, Native American women who throughout our nation's history have paved the way for this moment tonight."
