Wine-making sisters in Thailand

The Lohitnavy sisters make good wine.

A lot of wine is from Europe. This is the Granmonte Vineyard. It looks like Europe. But it is Thailand.

The weather in Thailand is different from Europe. They have to make wine differently.

One problem for all winemakers is climate change. The weather is changing.

Now winemakers are speaking to the sisters. They want help making wine in different weather.

Nikki: "Tropical wine making is really up and coming. A lot of wine makers from around the world they want to know what we do here because the climate is changing so they have to adapt to warmer temperatures, higher rainfalls in their regions too."

The climate isn't the only problem for the sisters. Thailand has a lot of rules about wine.

Mimi: "For example I can't show clearly a bottle of my wine, I can't post on social media what the wine tastes like, how or why it's good and also there's a restriction in the form of excise tax."

There is a lockdown in Thailand. The Granmonte Vineyard is losing money. The sisters are worried. Business will be difficult for them with more rules.
