There was a strong cyclone in Malawi, Madagascar and Mozambique. The name of the cyclone was Freddy.
Cyclone Freddy started on 6th February. It ended on 15th March. This makes Freddy the longest cyclone in history.
Freddy hit Mozambique twice. Many places are now under water and mud. Many people lost their homes. Hundreds have injuries. 800 people died. But this number will go up.

Richard Chimwendo Banda: "What we are seeing here is a crisis. So far, we are talking of about 122 people that we have confirmed that they have lost their lives. But quite a number of them are missing and this demands that all of use come in and support. People have been displaced, thousands and thousands in all the 10 districts."
This school in Malawi is an emergency centre. People are staying safe here. Many people need help. But there are floods. The roads are damaged. And there's no electricity. Malawi needs help.
Before the bad weather, many people in Malawi got sick from cholera. Now, more people might catch cholera from the flood. It's a difficult situation in Malawi.
