Good AI, bad AI - 5th April 2023 View All
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a new technology. In San Francisco, there's a museum with an art exhibition. The exhibition is about AI.
Audrey Kim wants people to think about the good and the bad of AI.
Audrey Kim: "For this space, it's really trying to create a means for people to approach the tech and reflect on it and see it at different angles. I also think it's, you know, it's really, it is a really, it's a really amazing technology. It's also really terrifying. It, it, it has potential for both good and bad. And so I want to create a space where we can be in a mindspace to be open to both."
Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak are famous technologists. They wrote in an open letter. They want people to be careful with AI. They're asking AI companies to stop for 6 months. They would like companies to make some clear rules. The rules must help technologists everywhere with AI. AI can be dangerous. They want the rules to make AI safe.
Kim's AI art exhibition has a similar message. It shows AI in the future. AI took control of the Earth. Most humans died. And now, AI's feeling sad about it.
Audrey Kim: "It is in a post-apocalyptic world where an artificial general intelligence, AGI, has already destroyed most of humanity, and has realised that that was bad, and then created this space as a type of memorial for the humans. So, our tagline is 'Sorry for killing most of humanity.'"
We all use AI technology in our daily lives. But is AI good or bad for us? Should we be comfortable?
