K2 is the climbers' mountain. It's difficult to climb. Most people don't get to the top. It's a little smaller than Everest, but the climb's hard.
K2's in the Karakoram mountain range. It's beautiful, but now it's full of rubbish.
More climbers are going up now. 700 people climbed to the top of K2. In 2022, there were 190. The first person was in 1954. But the first climb in winter was in 2021.
What rubbish do these climbers leave? Tents, food containers and so on.
Muhammad Ishaq looks after the Karakoram National Park. For him, it's important to keep the mountain clean.
Muhammad Ishaq: "There are eight peaks higher than 8,000 metres in central Karakoram. This K2 and G2 mountain area in Pakistan is extremely beautiful. We love it more than life itself, because there's no place on earth with such beauty. So we're putting our life into trying to keep it clean."
Climber Sajid Ali Sadpara cleaned up the mountain. He worked in a small team. In one week, they collected 200 kilograms of rubbish.
92 people died on K2. One of them was Sajid's father, the climber Ali Sadpara. Sajid's cleaning the mountain for his father.
Sajid Ali Sadpara: "This is the final resting place of my father, so I am voluntarily focusing. Emotionally, I am doing it from my heart. I am doing this work, so inshallah, due to my father's graveyard. So I will try my best to clean this mountain as much as I can."
