Obama weighs in on UFO talk - 31st May 2021

The topic of UFOs is rarely taken seriously by news channels or the public. However, there's now more interest in possible extra-terrestrial travellers due to recent US government statements.

Barack Obama replied to an interview question on UFOs with unexpected honesty. He admitted that the government holds recordings of unidentified flying objects.

Interest in UFOs has led to claims of sightings by celebrities. Professional basketball player Shaquille O'Neal saw a UFO in 1997. He hadn't told anyone before because he thought no one would believe him.

Meanwhile, US news networks are running shows on the subject. One former UK government investigator believes UFOs are "a defence and national security issue".

The interest in UFOs follows a recent programme by investigative reporters. The show '60 Minutes' studied US government statements about UFOs and interviewed witnesses. These included a former navy pilot who had seen UFOs "every day for at least a couple of years".

This led to Obama being asked about UFOs. The former president's response was direct. There is evidence of "objects in the skies, that we don't know exactly what they are, we can't explain how they moved".

Congress has instructed the US government to produce a report on UFOs, which is due soon. This comes after the Pentagon made public three videos of UFOs.
