Formula 1 driver breaks records - 16th March 2026
Arvid Lindblad's become Britain's youngest ever F1 racing driver. He drove his first Formula 1 race in the Australian Grand Prix. But Lindblad's not simply younger than most F1 drivers.
His background's also unusual in Formula 1. Lindblad's dad is from Sweden and his mum's parents come from India. He's the first ever British driver with Indian heritage.
Lindblad's proud of his family. He's "looking forward to bringing some different countries to the grid."
Lindblad began go-karting when he was five years old. By 15, he was racing in the Italian Formula 4 Championship.
A year later, he was in Formula 3. He made history as the youngest person to win a race. Then, he repeated this in Formula 2, at just 17 years old.
In 2025, he drove a modern F1 car for the first time. But his car in the Australian Grand Prix was totally different. They have new engine designs and smaller tyres. They also use special fuels which are carbon-neutral.
Lindblad started in 9th place and reached 3rd position at one point. He ended the race in 8th place and became the third-youngest driver in history to win points in a grand prix.
