Shopping for love - 16th September 2024
Are you looking for love? In Spain, single people are trying something new. They're dating at the supermarket. The supermarket's name is Mercadona.
From 7pm to 8pm, single people go to Mercadona. They put a pineapple in their trolley. But they turn it upside down. Then, they go to the wine part of the store.
One website says there are more rules. Singles put other food in their trolleys. Different food means a different relationship. Sweets mean a serious relationship. Vegetables mean something less serious.
Mercadona didn't start this trend. Its workers don't like it. The singles don't buy the pineapples. Then, the workers need to tidy up. In Bilbao, the police came to stop the singles. But no one went to prison.
Many single people use dating apps. But young people like meeting in person. The trend is very popular.
What do you think? Can you find love at the supermarket?
