Violinist plays during brain surgery - 28th February 2020
A violinist has helped surgeons avoid damaging her brain. She played her instrument while they removed her tumour.
Dagmar Turner, a musician in England, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2013.
The tumour was near an important part of the brain. It controls the tiny hand movements needed to play the violin.
Turner's surgeon suggested she be woken up and play her violin, part way through surgery, to check her coordination.
The successful surgery meant she left hospital three days later.
Brilliant, you’re really proficient! You’ll find the C1 level really helpful to maintain your high standard of English.
