Donald Trump will become the 47th President of the USA, after a challenging election campaign for both parties.

Trump was competing against the Democrats' Kamala Harris, who only entered the game on 31st July. Her role changed when President Biden agreed to step down after an embarrassing performance in a TV debate with Trump.

Reaching the White House was no easy ride for Trump either. Two people attempted to shoot him, and he was also convicted of a crime connected with trying to win the 2016 election. On 30th May, he was found guilty of paying 'hush money' to individuals to keep them silent.

Trump's court cases aren't over yet. Others relate to the 2020 election events and also to business matters, which could be very costly.

When he starts his second presidency in 2025, he'll be the first US President who's been convicted by the courts. This doesn't seem to worry his supporters.

Zachary Rindfuss: "I was happy with him when he was in before and then he lost the second election. And I see, I think I've seen America really make a downfall, and I like, I'm, I'm glad he's back in."

However, others see the matter differently.

Will Brown: "I am definitely not okay with that - you know, you know, very disappointing. I actually can't believe he was even eligible to run again, you know, considering everything that, you know, he did, you know, just unbelievable."

The Republicans haven't only won the presidential election. They've gained control of the Senate and the House, so new laws can be passed easily.

The size of the win was a great shock for people like this hospital employee.

Edwin Ortiz: "I knew it was going to be really close, 50/50. I didn't realize how far to one side it would've ended up being."

Trump, the incoming President of the United States, will officially take office on 20th January 2025.
