Artists paint London's streets - 11th September 2020

This huge mural is in London. It's part of London's first Mural Festival.

The festival includes more than 150 local and international artists. These artists are creating over 60 murals around London.

The murals decorate public spaces and are painted on walls of houses, housing estates and community centres.

D*Face is a street artist. He comes from the UK.

D*Face: "So, each mural takes, each mural takes about a week of pre-planning and then about a week of painting. So irrespective of the scale, they generally take 5 to 7 days."

Each artist paints murals in their own style. They talk with the wall's owner about their design.

Lee Bofkin manages the London Mural Festival.

Bofkin: "We believe, strongly, that our city should be painted more. They encourage people to slow down, to have new conversations, to appreciate their environment a bit more, to get off their phone a little bit. Or, to share it on their phone but encourage other people to leave the house a bit."

The artists are painting the murals during September. They want people to enjoy the murals for many years.
