Baby Royal Turtles - 5th June 2020 View All
The Royal turtle is special in Cambodia.
This year, Cambodia has 23 new Royal turtles. This is more than the total from the last 3 years.
In the past, people killed the royal turtles. They wanted their eggs and meat. People thought the turtles were all dead.
But in 2001, somebody found some royal turtles. They were in the Sre-Ambel river.
Now, the river is safe for turtles. Nobody can kill them. Nobody can destroy their homes. Guardians are making it a good place for turtles. They hope the turtle community can grow.
Another turtle is in danger too. It is the Cantor's turtle. This year, the Cantor's turtles had lots of eggs. There are 824 new baby turtles.
