This robot dog is called Scar. It is owned by Mines Nancy, which is a French university engineering school. The school bought Scar from a US robotics company in Boston.
Scar is part of the school's new plan. It wants to create new technologies. It is planning to use the newest science in its work.
The school's engineers have given Scar some upgrades. It can now move more effectively and collect information. Scar now has 5 cameras, which check and measure things around it.
Scar can move better than humanoid robots. It can travel over uneven ground more easily.
Mines Nancy is finding uses for this technology. It is cooperating with private and public organisations. They hope Scar can replace humans in dangerous situations.
Scar's first job may help the French government. It is building tunnels to store nuclear waste. The robot can work in front of the machines which make the tunnels.
