Queen Elizabeth II's funeral - 21st September 2022 View All
This is Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in London. She died on 8th September. She was 96 years old. She was Queen for 70 years.
2,000 people went to the funeral. These included royals and leaders of other countries. The funeral was at Westminster Abbey. Elizabeth got married there. She was crowned Queen there too.
Members of the Royal Navy carried her coffin. They walked with it through the streets in London. People went out to say goodbye to the Queen.
After the Queen died, people put flowers at palaces and parks. Thousands of people travelled to London. They stood in long queues to see the Queen's coffin. Many people queued for 24 hours. They wanted to show respect to their Queen.
Theresa Simons slept outside for two nights.
Theresa Simons: "Why wouldn't we want to see her? She was our Queen. She did a lot for our country. She did a lot for the world, I think. Um yeah - a nice place to be. It's just to pay our respects."
Michelle Larson travelled from the US for the funeral.
Michelle Larson: "We wanted to come over here and pay respects to the Queen. And, and - so we booked it and, and we're here until Thursday."
Michelle Larson: "And so, I think it's a testament to her character and her longevity. And I think also like - it's special to be here and experience this with her people and with the British people."
The Queen was buried next to her husband at Windsor Castle.
