The world's highest swing ride - 5th March 2021 View All
When international travel reopens, fun lovers may want to head to Dubai. The Bollywood Parks theme park in the city has just opened the Bollywood Skyflyer. It's officially the world's highest swing ride. Bollywood Parks' general manager is Milton D'Souza.
Milton D'Souza: "Standing at 460 feet tall, Bollywood Skyflyer is the tallest swing ride. It outbeat the Orlando one which stood at 450 feet, so right now this is as tall as the Pyramid of Giza."
Like theme parks everywhere, Bollywood Parks Dubai was forced to close for several months. During the pandemic, the team took the opportunity to expand and modernise its facilities. They've come up with 9 new rides, including the swing ride. D'Souza explains how this was far from easy.
Milton D'Souza: "It is something that has taken us quite some time to build, it took 600 days - another 120 days to install this ride. It has 421 tonnes of steel and that's how we achieved the world record."
More new rides, including the region's first wooden roller coaster, are scheduled to open later in the year. The industry anticipates that with the changes in all of Dubai's theme parks, its 2.6 million visitor figures for 2019 will rise further. One visitor from Germany, Anastagia, enjoyed being one of the first on the ride.
Anastagia: "It's interesting, it's, you, you see the, the whole city - so it's really freshing and it's really a lot of fun, I really recommend this."
If you're missing your usual adrenalin rush, here's a new place to find it!
