Flying high in Dubai - 5th March 2021 View All

Thrill seekers are eagerly awaiting the resumption of global travel and lifting of restrictions now that the world's most monumental swing ride has just entered service. The Bollywood Skyflyer is the indisputable star attraction at Bollywood Parks theme park, Dubai, as General Manager Milton D'Souza proudly illustrates.

Milton D'Souza: "Standing at 460 feet tall, Bollywood Skyflyer is the tallest swing ride. It outbeat the Orlando one which stood at 450 feet, so right now this is as tall as the Pyramid of Giza."

Despite encountering similar challenges to resorts globally, Bollywood Parks sought out the positives in the enforced hiatus. The team grasped the opportunity presented by the lull to refashion some of the park's major attractions. In the following months, 9 extraordinary proposals were realised, including the swing ride, which was no mean feat according to D'Souza.

Milton D'Souza: "It is something that has taken us quite some time to build, it took 600 days - another 120 days to install this ride. It has 421 tonnes of steel and that's how we achieved the world record."

Also featuring among the host of innovative rides set to welcome visitors later in the year is the Middle East's first full timber construction roller coaster, dubbed the Bombay Express. Projections are that the Gulf city's amusement park revamp will entice a record number of thrill seekers, exceeding the 2.6 million daredevils who'd descended on the parks in 2019.

One visiting adrenaline junkie was Anastagia from Germany.

Anastagia: "It's interesting, it's, you, you see the, the whole city - so it's really freshing and it's really a lot of fun, I really recommend this."

Those craving high-octane thrills should find that Dubai turns out to be just the ticket!
