Thai plane cafés take off

The pandemic has wreaked havoc with The world's travel itineraries. With the whole of Thailand grounded, "plane cafés" are attempting to replicate the thrill of hearing "doors to manual".

Passengers in search of the high life in the east coast resort city of Pattaya are now boarding a decommissioned A330 "plane café" with its own boarding passes.

Visitors sup in-flight beverages drinking in their first class surroundings, pose for selfies with mock cabin cases on standby and head to the front of the fuselage to take command in the cockpit.

Meanwhile, Thai Airways have adapted their hub into a "plane café", delighting flightless passengers with a taste of aviation cuisine as attentive cabin crew transport spaghetti carbonara and Thai-style beef to your seat on authentic airline tableware.

Shutting its borders soon after China, Thailand has largely escaped the ravages of the pandemic, registering low case numbers and deaths below 100. With the economic impact biting, the government is evaluating travel bubbles with other low risk destinations.

With check-in not yet open, plane cafés offer a flight of fancy.
