Pharaohs cross Cairo city - 16th April 2021 View All
Cairo has a new museum - the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation. To celebrate, there was a beautiful parade. Pharaohs from ancient Egypt were driven across the capital.
The parade included the mummies of pharaohs from ancient Egypt. Each pharaoh was transported to the new museum in a separate car. Their name was written on the side. The cars were specially made to protect the mummies. They were driven very carefully.
The kings and queens have now arrived at their destination. Experts will examine them for the next two weeks. After that, they will place the pharaohs in glass cases which are kept at the perfect temperature for the protection of the mummies. Soon, they will go on display. Visitors have already started coming to the museum.
Sara: "The yesterday we watched the parade on the television, and so we came today to the museum and it's really, really beautiful, really exceptional. We are so happy to be able to see all of the Egyptian products and statues here now."
Asmaa Said is one of the experts at the museum.
Asmaa: "Why it is called the civilisation museum is because the most important thing here is the concept of civilisation, not a specific time or era. Every showcase tells a story or a different concept of civilisation. We connect all civilisations here."
