The world's highest swing ride - 5th March 2021

Adrenaline junkies will most certainly be making for Dubai once borders reopen and airlines resume operations. The highest-flying swing ride ever constructed has just opened to the public in one of the emirate's amusement parks. Bollywood Parks' General Manager, Milton D'Souza, oversees the resort.

Milton D'Souza: "Standing at 460 feet tall, Bollywood Skyflyer is the tallest swing ride. It outbeat the Orlando one which stood at 450 feet, so right now this is as tall as the Pyramid of Giza."

Bollywood Parks Dubai had little choice but to close down during the pandemic, along with most other theme parks worldwide. However, its enterprising team exploited the opportunity to revamp their products, commissioning 9 particularly innovative offerings. Among these stands the incredible swing ride, which D'Souza emphasises was a serious achievement.

Milton D'Souza: "It is something that has taken us quite some time to build, it took 600 days - another 120 days to install this ride. It has 421 tonnes of steel and that's how we achieved the world record."

Featuring among the groundbreaking rides scheduled to debut shortly is the region's first all timber roller coaster - the Bombay Express. The sector target is to surpass the 2.6 million visitors who passed through the gates of Dubai's amusement parks in 2019.

At the front of the queue to brave the Skyflyer was Anastagia, a tourist from Germany.

Anastagia: "It's interesting, it's, you, you see the, the whole city - so it's really freshing and it's really a lot of fun, I really recommend this."
