Mammoth discovery in Mexico

Workers are building a new airport near Mexico City. But they found 100 dead mammoths.

Mammoths were very big animals. They looked like elephants. They all died thousands of years ago.

Scientists say the area was a lake a long time ago. They think the mammoths died in the lake.

Scientists found other dead animals too. They found camels, horses, birds and fish. The animals are between 10,000 and 25,000 years old.

The workers are continuing to build the airport. Scientists are checking the work. They will keep the mammoth bones safe.

The first humans used mammoth bones. They made tools from the bones. Scientists are excited about the bones. They hope to answer a big question: why did all mammoths die?
